Welcome Back Verner!

Although we are beginning the school year virtually, Verner teachers know the importance of building connections with students. Soon parents will receive a letter with details about a unique “Meet and Greet” opportunity. Students will meet their new teachers one-on-one, and teachers will conduct initial assessments. Teachers will schedule in-class small groups or one-on-one instruction based on that data while also providing daily virtual instruction with safety and health precautions in place. We will work to maintain the important social component of schools with intentional interactions.

This plan will limit the number of contacts but also prepare children for the next phase. None of us knows the course of the virus, but we hope to phase in a staggered schedule sometime after Labor Day. Our goal is to have every child back in school full time. The “phase in” program that our system has adopted will be successful when the virus begins to look better. Even while providing a rigorous and successful educational plan, we must continue to plan for the health and safety of every child.

We can’t wait to see you back at the V!

Welcome Back to Verner!

Verner Weekly: Support our Library!

Help Verner’s Library Reach Exemplary Status

Verner Elementary is an exceptional school with a thriving culture of literacy. The Verner Library is essential to our goal of developing life-long learners. An exemplary library consists of a collection with an average age less than ten years old and an average of fifteen books per student. Currently, our collection has an average age of 2001 and we need $75,000 to raise the age of our collection to exemplary level. With matching funds from a supporting organization, we seek to raise $37,500 by May 2020. With your help, we can make this goal a reality. Please consider donating to support the literacy efforts at Verner. The name of every donor of $100 or more will be included in a permanent display in Verner’s library. Please share this link with family and community members.
