Verner Weekly: Picture Day/Yearbook Cover Contest and Grandparent’s Day!

Picture Day is TOMORROW!!!  Wear your best smile!!

It is time for the 2019-20 Verner Yearbook Cover Contest!  All entries must be submitted to the office by Wednesday, Sept 18th at 8:30 A.M.

Contest Rules:

  1. Contest is open to all 4th and 5th graders
  2. The artwork must be original and the work of one student
  3. Each design must include the School Name and 2019-2020
  4. The artwork must be Vertical on 2 sheets of 8 1/2x 11 inch white paper
  5. The student’s name and homeroom needs to be on the BACK of both pages
  6. Student’s may submit more than one entry

Winners will be announced on Friday, September 27th.

Grandparent’s Day is coming up!  Grandparents are invited to lunch and for a visit in the classroom after lunch on either Friday, Sept 20th or Monday, Sept 30th.  Please let your child’s teacher know when they are coming!

Verner Weekly: Volunteers Needed for the Book Fair THIS WEEK!

The book fair is THIS WEEK! We still need a few volunteers.  If you can help, please visit this link!

Due to the fact that there have been quite a few requests for additional Verner t-shirts, we are going to do one re-order. The forms are due MONDAY, OCTOBER 1st.

We have one more opportunity for grandparents and special friends to visit on  Monday, October 1st.  If you haven’t already, please be sure to turn in your form to your child’s teacher!

Box Tops

The yearly Verner classroom Box Tops competition is kicking off again!  The classroom that turns in the most Box Tops will win a pizza and popsicles party!  Clip your Box Tops and turn them in to the mailbox in a Ziploc baggie with your child’s teacher’s name.  Deadline for Box Tops is October 5th.

Grandparents are invited to lunch and for a visit in the classroom after lunch on either Friday, September 21st or Monday, October 1st.

Verner’s VIP campaign is in full swing and we want every Verner family to join us! VIP (Verner Improvement Program) is our PTA’s investment/fundraising program. Parents, grandparents and other supporters can make a one-time, tax-deductible donation that goes directly towards helping Verner and its students.

Join today through one of three easy options:

  • Pay your $150 donation via the PayPal link located at the bottom of the page;
  • Complete a Verner VIP Donation Letter/Form  (link located at the bottom of this page) and return along with your donation (check or cash) to Verner; OR
  • Complete a Verner VIP Donation Letter/Form and return along with your credit card information (card number, name on card, expiration date, 3-digit security code on back).

PTA Committee

Verner NEEDS you!  Verner Elementary PTA has many opportunities for you to make a difference in our school and in the lives of our children. Our PTA Committees represent different areas of interest and time commitments.  A PTA Committee Descriptions form was sent home in your child’s folder last week.  If you have interest in one of the committees, please fill and return to school.  Thank you for your time and contribution to our school, our teachers and most importantly our children – YOU will help make this school year GREAT!

GRANDPARENT’S DAY

Grandparent’s day is tomorrow! Grandparents and special friends are invited to have lunch and visit the classroom.

BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair starts tomorrow! A green form was sent home with your child’s schedule.  If you are unable to attend during the scheduled time you are more than welcome to come before or after school to shop.  The Book Fair opens at 7:45 and lasts until 3:15.  Shopping will end at 12:00 on Friday.

BOX TOPS

The fall Box Tops contest has begun and will run through October 6th. The contest is between classrooms with the winner receiving a pizza and popsicle party.  Please neatly clip your tops and put them in a Ziploc with your child’s name, grade and homeroom teacher on the bag.  Also, make sure the Box Tops aren’t expired!

Verner Weekly: Grandparent’s Day, Northridge Football, Spirit Night

Grandparent’s Day will be this Friday, Sept 15th or Monday, Oct 2nd.  Grandparents and special friends are invited to have lunch and visit the classroom.

 

Come support Northridge Jaguars this Friday at 7:00 PM at Jaguar Stadium as they take on the Brookwood Panthers.

 

Mark your calendar for Spirit Day at Chick-fil-A on Monday September 25th from 3-8.  Take a night off from cooking while supporting Verner!  A portion of the night’s sales goes straight back to the school so come hungry and invite your family and friends!
