Ways To Help Verner This Summer

You can help Verner this summer by continuing to do a few simple things that are part of your every day routine!

Publix Key Tag/Target REDcard/Office Depot Back To School Program/Box Tops/Amazon Smile/Shop Local:

  • Publix Key Tag: Swipe your Publix Key Tag when grocery shopping this summer. Please “swipe” it each time you make a purchase (before you pay!) at a Publix grocery store and Verner will receive a percentage of your total purchase.
  • Target REDcard: If you have a Target REDcard, enroll in Take Charge of Education and choose Verner as your school of choice. Verner will receive a donation check based on your purchases.
  • Office Depot: When shopping at Office Depot (Tuscaloosa), have your purchases applied to Verner for school credits equal to 5% of qualifying purchases in the form of an Office Depot Merchandise Card that can be used towards FREE supplies. Ask the sales associate to look up Verner’s ID number before completing your transaction.
  • Box Tops: Continue to clip and save Box Tops. Details regarding the first Box Tops collection contest will be announced after school begins. Visit www.boxtops4education.com.
  • AmazonSmile: If you shop online at Amazon, you can earn cash for the Verner Elementary PTA with each purchase. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to Verner Elementary PTA whenever you shop on AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile is the same as Amazon (same products, prices, and Amazon Prime benefits). Start your shopping at smile.amazon.com and enter Verner Elementary PTA as your charitable organization of choice.
  • Shop Local: Five cents of the nine cents sales tax collected on every dollar spent in Tuscaloosa County stays in Tuscaloosa County. That includes almost 1.35¢ that goes directly to local public schools. And when shopping at merchants located in the City of Tuscaloosa, two cents of the local tax goes to the City of Tuscaloosa’s General Fund which, in the past, has provided financial support to the Tuscaloosa City Schools.
  • Verner Spirit Store: Every purchase supports the Verner Student Council. A portion of all sales will go towards our efforts to support educational needs in our school, show appreciation to our teachers, and to promote awareness of needs in our community. The Verner Spirit Store website address is: http://www.vernerspiritstore.com/verner_spirit_store/home

Have a wonderful summer and we will see everyone when school returns on August 11!

Food Drive Benefits Forty-One People

image002

The Verner SCA was able to assemble 41 bags of food for patients of the Good Samaritan Clinic with the items that were collected from our recent food drive. That is 41 Good Samaritan Clinic patients that benefitted from the generosity of our students and 41 people that know that others in the community care about them. The SCA delivered the food that was collected to GSC staff members for distribution. Thank you to everyone that participated and to the SCA advisors and representatives for initiating this event.
