Verner Weekly: Grandparent’s Day, Book Fair, Box Tops

GRANDPARENT’S DAY

Grandparent’s day is tomorrow! Grandparents and special friends are invited to have lunch and visit the classroom.

BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair starts tomorrow! A green form was sent home with your child’s schedule.  If you are unable to attend during the scheduled time you are more than welcome to come before or after school to shop.  The Book Fair opens at 7:45 and lasts until 3:15.  Shopping will end at 12:00 on Friday.

BOX TOPS

The fall Box Tops contest has begun and will run through October 6th. The contest is between classrooms with the winner receiving a pizza and popsicle party.  Please neatly clip your tops and put them in a Ziploc with your child’s name, grade and homeroom teacher on the bag.  Also, make sure the Box Tops aren’t expired!

SPIRIT NIGHT

TOMORROW is  Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A  from 3-8.  Take a night off from cooking while supporting Verner!  A portion of the night’s sales goes straight back to the school so come hungry and invite your family and friends!

Verner yearbooks and yearbook ads are now on sale for the 2017-2018 school year. All sales are conducted online at www.balfour.com.

  • Yearbooks are $35 if ordered by November 1st.  Starting November 1st, they will be $40.
  • Each yearbook includes a name stamp on front.  Please include first and last name only for stamp.

Urban Cookhouse Spirit Night

When: Monday, May 8th 4:30-8:00

Verner will receive 10% of sales for the evening.

*Takeouts are included.  Just tell them you are supporting Verner!*

Verner Book Fair

Book fair is this week!  Parents who are unable to come shop with their children during the slotted time are welcome to come before or after school.  The Book Fair opens at 7:50 a.m. every day!

RQMS Q&A Session: Tuesday, May 16th 3:30-4:30 @ RQ Cafeteria

Please make plans to attend this Question and Answer session while your kids are attending the Rock Quarry/Verner Mixer! There will be a panel of current 6th grade parents to answer any questions you may have regarding “How Things Work in Middle School” Mrs. Ingram (Principle) and Mrs. Thompson (Guidance Counselor) and a current 6th grade teacher will also be there to help answer questions!

PTA Meeting: Tuesday, May 16th @ 6:00 p.m.

Come attend our last meeting of the school year!

Spring Fling: Monday, May 22nd  

Volunteer forms were sent home last week.  Please consider volunteering for this fun event and return the form with your specified time!

The Verner Weekly: Upcoming Dates and Reminders

Mark your calendar for the following events!

October 3rd-7th:  Book Fair this week!  Check with your teacher for your child’s time to visit the Book Fair or stop by before or after school.

**Also, check out the remaining slots to volunteer!  This is the primary fundraiser for our library. Your help is so important!  Thank you for your help!! 

Book Fair Volunteer Sign Up

October 3rd: Grandparent’s Day – Invite a Grandparent or Special Friend for lunch!

October 5th: National Walk/Bike to School Day. Make plans to form and/or join other family and friends and walk to school!

October 7th: Don’t forget to send in your Box Tops! Every time a grade level collects 300 Box Tops, a Tiki is added to a tower.  The grade level with the highest Tiki Tower wins the Box Top Trophy!

October 10th: Columbus Day – No school for students

October 25th: PTA Meeting; We will enjoy special “BOO”tiful music by Kindergarten and 2nd grade!

The Verner Weekly: Important Dates and Reminders

Add these dates and reminders to your calendar!!

September 26th (Monday)– Take a night off from cooking!  Head to Chick-Fil-A Northport for Verner Spirit Night from 5:00-8:00pm.  Tell them you are with Verner and a portion of the proceeds comes back to us!  Dine in or drive thru!

October 3rd- 7th– Book Fair!  Flyers will go home this week with information.

TCBY (Every Friday thru October 28th )Thanks to the Tiller Family for donating yogurt every week!  The money you send for yogurt goes directly back to the school!
