Verner Weekly: VERNER CARES, UNICEF, Spirit Night, Turkey Bowl

Stay in the know with the Verner Weekly and mark your calendars for the month of November!  Lots of wonderful things happening this month!

VERNER CARES

Verner is partnering with Greenbrier Elementary in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Greenbrier was under 3-4 feet of water during the flooding in August and has currently relocated at a local middle school until next year.  VERNER CARES is a service- minded project for our kids to get involved!  We will be asking for donations to help teachers repair and restock their classrooms.  In addition to donations, our students will be participating in a communication project with Greenbrier, putting a face and name for our kids.  We want them to know WHO they are helping and WHY.

*Donations are being collected from Monday, October 31st thru Friday, November 4th.  Minimum $5 donation to receive a VERNER CARES bracelet. Our goal is for EVERY Verner student and faculty member to wear a bracelet for the Alabama vs LSU game on Saturday, November 5th

UNICEF

This week, Verner kids are helping other kids by participating in activities to raise money for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Please join our students by supporting the following activities:

  • Oct. 31st-Nov 4th: Hot Chocolate and Craft Sale. Before and after school. All beverages cost $1.00.
  • October 31st (Monday): Deadline to donate your gently used books for the Used Book Sale.
  • November 1st & 2nd (Tuesday and Wednesday): Used Book Sale for UNICEF. All books cost $1.00.

Students are also collecting donations through the “Trick or Treat for UNICEF” program. Collection boxes should be returned by Friday, November 4th. Every little bit helps so donations of any amount are accepted.

UNICEF is dedicated to providing clean water, food, basic health care, and education to children in need around the world.

Verner: Home to the Turkey Bowl Trophy for Another Year!

Team Verner won the 2015 Turkey Bowl 21-20! Congratulations to our players, our cheerleaders, our coaches and our school. Verner will be home to the coveted Turkey Trophy for another year.

Thank you to everyone from Rock Quarry, Verner, and the community for supporting this game. It is great fun and it raises much needed funds for both schools’ PE programs.
