Jeffery Walker Named Finalist for JSU Teacher Hall of Fame

First grade teacher Jeffery Walker has been named a finalist in the Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame program!  We are so proud of Mr. Walker and all that he does for Verner.

William Carter Hill, an English teacher at our neighboring Northridge High, was named a finalist for the JSU Teacher Hall of Fame program in the high school division. Since 1969, this program has recognized and honored the classroom teachers of the public schools in the State of Alabama.

Both gentlemen were honored at the Tuscaloosa City Schools’ fourth annual Apple Awards in December as being named the district’s nominees in the prestigious recognition program. Walker is one of five finalists in the elementary division; Hill is one of five finalists in the high school division. Following an interview round of finalists in the elementary, middle school and high school divisions, a winner will be named in each category at a May 6 banquet on the JSU campus.

Congratulations to Mr. Walker! We wish him and Mr. Hill all the best as they represent our schools, our system, and our community in this statewide competition.
