Robotics Teams Place at UA Competition

Congratulations to Verner’s 5th Grade Robotics Teams and their faculty advisor, Kathy Perkins, for their success at The University of Alabama’s 2016 Alabama Robotics Competition held this weekend at the Bryant Conference Center. Verner was represented by three teams at this year’s event. Participating students included: Kaitlyn Corkren, Andrew Harrell, Parker Jones, Ellis Kirkland, Barker Montgomery, Henry Rosenstiel, Josh Tucker, Alex Wallace, Madison Washington, D.J. Wright.

In the elementary division, Verner’s Team #3 (Andrew Harrell, Ellis Kirkland, and D.J. Wright) placed third and Team #2 (Barker Montgomery, Henry Rosenstiel, Josh Tucker and Alex Wallace) placed fifth! At the Robotics Competition, teams had three hours to program their robots to complete three separate challenges without any help from coaches or parents. Fifteen elementary school teams, thirteen middle school teams, and fourteen high school teams participated in the event.

Congratulations Verner Robotics Team Members and Mrs. Perkins!
