The Tuscaloosa City Schools will host a Superintendent’s Open House with Dr. Mike Daria on Monday, Aug. 29, to connect with the community about the direction of the system. The event is set for The Alberta School of Performing Arts (2700 University Blvd. E.) from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 6 p.m.
Parents, teachers and community members can learn about the district’s implementation of the strategic plan directly from administrators tasked with implementing the plan in a science-fair style. An extended evening learning camp will be provided for students in grades kindergarten through eight to participate in interactive, hands-on activities for free as parents visit the following stations:
- Meet with the Superintendent
- Curriculum
- Human Resources
- Construction
- Finance
Additionally, staff will be on-hand to connect with families of English Language Learners in Spanish.
Dr. Daria said he hopes this type of event will help the system better engage with families. The Superintendent’s Open House will be Dr. Daria’s first community meeting since being named superintendent earlier this summer. For more information, visit www.tuscaloosacityschools.com.
