The Verner Weekly

Verner Clean Up Day

When: Saturday, February 25th from 10-12

We need to get all the sticks and leaves up that fell during the winter months.  We also will need to prune some of the bushes and trees.  It would not hurt to run over the grass if anyone has riding lawn mowers or push lawn mowers with bags.  All ages can help, so bring your kids!!

Items that you could bring include:

Lawn mowers, rakes, brooms, blowers, pitch forks, gloves, pruning sheers, chain saw, pole saw, wheel barrows, trash cans

Please contact Josh Denney at Josh.Denney@cadencebank.com

PTA Meeting February 28th at 6:00 pm

Mark your calendar for the next PTA meeting!  The 4th and 5th graders will give a special “Calypso” musical performance.

Read Across America Day Celebration: Book Character Parade

All students are invited to participate!  Come to school dressed as any book character and carry a sign telling the character’s name and the title of the book.  The parade will begin at 8:30 or shortly thereafter.  Members of the Northridge Band and our Grand Marshal, the Cat in the Hat will lead the parade.  Parents and younger siblings are welcome to attend.  Parents are also invited to join us for the assembly that will begin in the gym immediately after the parade.  Music will be provided by the 1st and 3rd grade students.

Coins for Cans Collection: January 25th– February 1st

Help Verner buy food for the West Alabama Food Bank and compete in the Tuscaloosa City Schools’ CANstruction design challenge at the same time!  CANstruction is a competition in which students design and build structures out of cans.  This year’s exciting design (which will be revealed in February) requires certain colors and sizes of cans.  Rather than asking for specific cans, we are collecting money to buy the cans in bulk.  The grade level that raises the most money will enjoy Krispy Kreme doughnuts, so send in your donation today!
